ENTRY FEE: $18.00 unless otherwise stated. Exhibitor must purchase an exhibitor ticket at time of entry. Without exhibitor pass, exhibitors will not be allowed in the barns after hours.

Youth Single Day (6-18 yrs) – $10
Must complete the entry form, gate pass form and overnight parking forms if staying overnight.
Name of each horse must be recorded on entry forms.
When filling out the forms, please make sure you are using the class numbers and letters as indicated in the prize book (ie. 14s).
There will be a $25.00 NSF charge for all NSF cheques.
No Late Entries: Unless approved by the light horse chairperson. A fee of $20 will be added to any late entries.
Post Entries: May be allowed by the light horse chairperson for double the entry fee. Post entries for morning classes must be made the day before. Afternoon classes will be made the morning of by 11:00 a.m. and evening classes will be made by 3:00 p.m.

Classes will be run as close as possible to the prize book, but the management reserves the right to change any order or time schedule or modify any classes they deem necessary. Classes with insufficient entries may be combined or cancelled.
EXHIBITOR INFORMATION:
Arrival times: Exhibitors not arriving on time may be refused entry. Earlier arrival can be arranged.
Horses may arrive on the grounds Thursday after 3pm and must be on the grounds no later than Friday at 7am & required to stay until 5pm Sunday. All horses remain stabled on the grounds for the duration of the show entered. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of all prize money.
General Rules – Ages:
Junior Competitor: 12 years and under as of January 1st of the competition year
Youth Competitor: 13 – 17 years as of January 1st of the competition year
Senior Competitor: 18 years and over as of January 1st of the competition year.
- Classes will be run as close to the prize list as possible, but the Chilliwack Fair reserves the right to change or modified order, time schedule, or classes if necessary.
- Classes maybe combined, cancelled, or split by Chilliwack Fair reflective of the number of entries. If a large class is split the judge will choose the top five from each half to return for final judging.
- Barn Calls are a courtesy only. Each competitor is responsible to report to the Whipper in promptly. Failure to do so may lead to disqualification from the class. All effort will be made to accommodate exhibitors if there is a conflict of time for an exhibitor to enter a class.
- NO person under the age of 18 years of age may exhibit a stallion.
- Numbers must be displayed while handling or riding anywhere on the ground.
- All horses ridden must be fully tacked with saddle and bridle.
- Lunging permitted before 7 am in the designated ring only.
- No trotting or cantering outside designated warm-up rings.
- Management reserves the right to disqualify an entry if a gate hold exceeds the time restrictions of the show.
- Gate holds must be requested at least 10 minutes before the start of the class and approved by the Light horse director.
- NO horses are allowed at or directly around the light horse show office.
- NO HORSES are allowed to be tied to any fence on the Chilliwack Fair Grounds.
- If class number warrant, classes may be split.
STABLING REGULATIONS:
• Fee: $75.00 for the weekend for box stalls, non-refundable.
YOU MUST ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 7:00 AM FRIDAY and LEAVE SUNDAY AFTER 5:30 PM.
If other arrangements need to be made, please contact the chairperson.
- Due to limited space entries will be limited to the number of stalls available. Indicate on entry form whether stalls are needed in the Light Horse division.
- Indicate on entry forms request to be stabled with others. Chilliwack Fair will make reasonable effort to accommodate special requests but reserve the right to stabling allotments.
- Absolutely no stall tags to be removed by exhibitors, any Exhibitor changing stalls for tack room without express permission may be removed from the show, forfeiting all entry fees & prize money.
- All stalls & alleyways to be cleaned before 8:00am each day. For health and safety of everyone keep alley way clear.
- Indoor stalls are based on a first come first basis. Once these stalls a re full you will be required to stall in the outside covered stalls
• A SEPARATE $75.00 per stall clean up deposit/stall reservation cheque is to accompany entry forms. Please date this cheque for August 10, 2025. Stall reservation/cleanup fee will NOT be refunded if exhibitor does not clean their stall or bring their horse.

$500 Chilliwack Fair Versatility Ranch Riding Horse Challenge
The Ranch Riding Horse challenge is based on four of the Ranch classes. To participate you in this challenge, one must enter the following Ranch classes:
- Ranch Riding Pattern
- Ranch Riding Trail
- Ranch Riding Rail
- Ranch Confirmation
Walk/Trot Division
- Will only be held as 2 age groups senior and youth/Junior.
- Only one Horse/Rider combination is allowed per class.
- If a Horse/Rider combination is entered in a walk/trot division, they cannot cross enter ANY walk/trot/canter or loop classes in the show.

There will be prizes for highpoint for each division of the gymkhana.
Pole Bending
The course may run starting to the left or right of the pattern, following the line of travel indicated on the pattern. Failure to follow the correct course shall cause a contestant to be disqualified. A 5 second penalty for each pole knocked over.

Stake Race
The correct pattern shall be run across the center timing line, turning left or right around the stake at the end, return through the center, turn in the opposite way around the stake, then sprint back through the center, shutting off the time. Failure to follow course or knocking down stake or course marker shall cause a contestant to be eliminated.

Pole Turn
Riders and horses weave through a series of poles at speed, turning in and out of the poles in a specific pattern. The goal is to complete the pattern as quickly as possible without knocking over poles. Penalties are added for knocked-down poles.

Speed Barrels
Knocking over a barrel carries a 5 second penalty. Failure to follow the course shall cause disqualifications. A contestant may touch the barrel with his/her hands in the race.

Handy Pony
The rider crosses the starting line and circles around both barrels into a limed or chalked square. The rider stops his horse in the square and must stand there for five seconds. There will be a timer in the arena with a stopwatch who will yell “Go” when the five seconds has passed. The rider then races to the finish line.

The horse is the means by which the exhibitor demonstrates his/her ability to show a horse at halter. The ideal showmanship performance consists of a poised, confident, neatly attired exhibitor leading a well groomed and conditioned horse that quickly and efficiently performs the requested patterns with promptness, smoothness, and precision. The exhibitor will show the horse in the posted pattern.

Ranch Confirmation
The conformation class is held at the end of a Versatility Ranch Horse show so a judge, who has seen these horses perform during the day, can evaluate their conformation.

Design to evaluate the exhibitor’s ability to execute a pattern prescribed by the judge. Movements should be workmanlike and efficient, and the horse should be obedient and cooperative.

Ranch Ground Handling – Pattern
This class tests the handler’s ability to communicate with the horse from the ground by judging a series of maneuvers that require the horse to yield to pressure – forward, backward, and laterally. Maneuvers are selected to be realistic in their application to everyday training. Exhibitor movements should be workmanlike and efficient, and the horse should be obedient and cooperative. Horses may be shown in good working halter with minimal silver (robe, braided, nylon or plain leather). No chains allowed.

In Hand/Trail, Horse/Pony
Open to all horses all breeds, posted order of go this class is an in-hand test of horse control & the handler’s ability to guide the horse safely through a series of obstacles. May be shown in English or Western attire. Horse will be shown over & through a series of 6 -10 obstacles. Emphasis is placed on safety, the horses’ manners & response to the handler & quality of the movement. Handler may be asked to move on after 3 disobediences at the same obstacle.

Ranch Riding Horse: Trail
This class will be judged on performance of the horse over the obstacles. Emphasis on manners, response to the exhibitor & on how the partnership of the horse/rider works together. Credit will be given to horses showing the capability of picking their way through the course when obstacle warrant it & exhibiting trust in the rider when negotiating more difficult obstacles. Breast collars & back cinch are recommended. Attire and tack should be cleaned & presentable, silver is discouraged. No tail extensions, hoof polish or banded/braided manes allowed.

The command class is neither a race, nor is it a gymkhana event. It is a competition which exhibits a well-trained, responsive performance horse/pony. Riders must be dressed in suitable western or English attire. Entries are eliminated one at a time at the discretion of the judge as commands are not executed correctly. At no time are ring stewards allowed to partake in the judging or placing of the class. 1st place only awarded.

Ranch Riding Horse – Pattern
The horse should reflect the versatility, attitude & movement of a working horse, the horse’s performance should simulate a horse riding outside the confines of an arena & that of a working ranch horse. This class should show the horse’s ability to work at a forward working speed while under control by the rider. Light contact should be rewarded & horse shall not be shown on a full drape reins. The overall manners & responsiveness of the horse while performing the maneuver requirements & the horse’s quality of movement are the primary considerations.

Ranch on the Rail
This is a walk/jog/lope class and extensions can be requested in the walk and jog, the quality and cadence of the gaits is the major considerations and should mimic the ranch horse that looks like it has a job to do.
