EXHIBIT AND ENTRY FORM DATE: Thursday, August 10 between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Be fully prepared to set up on entry tables. Entries brought after this time cannot be judged. Judging will take place at 7:15 p.m.

RULES:

1. Entry forms for the Chilliwack Schools’ Garden Program are included in the participant’s original instruction package and are also available from the committee and website. The program is open to all students Kindergarten to Grade 12 in the Chilliwack School District, including public, independent and home schools. Grade divisions are determined at the time of application.

2. All seeds used must be those supplied by the Committee unless otherwise stated, as for Senior options.

3. Prizes are awarded on the basis of the exhibits brought to the 2022 Chilliwack Fair according to the section and category. All produce and flower exhibits must be from the student’s garden. All prize money is from private donations made to the program.

All shared Garden Entries are considered one entry and exhibited in the oldest participant’s division.

Participants please read and follow the “Preparation of Vegetables and Flowers for the Fair” document included with your instructions package.

EXHIBITS BY GARDEN DIVISION

JUNIOR:

JUNIOR SMALL (Grades K-2)

1. Group Exhibit – 3 vegetable varieties and 1 vase of 1 flower variety.

Group Exhibit Prize Money: 1st -$20, 2nd -$16, 3rd $12, 4th – $8, 5th -$4

JUNIOR REGULAR (Grades K-2)

1. Group Exhibit – 4 vegetable varieties and 1 vase of 2 flower varieties.

Group Exhibit Prize Money: 1st – Trophy (TBA) and $28, 2nd – $24, 3rd – $20, 4th – $12, 5th – $8

JUNIOR INDIVIDUAL (Grades K-2)

1. (a) beans, (b) beets, (c) carrots, (d) corn (only Junior Regular) (e) vase of flowers – prepare same as for group exhibit

Individual Exhibit Prize Money: 1st – $10, 2nd -$8, 3rd – $6, 4th – $4, 5th and 6th – ribbons

INTERMEDIATE:

INTERMEDIATE SMALL (Grades 3-5)

1. Group Exhibit – 4 vegetable varieties and 1 vase of 2 flower varieties

SENIOR:

All Senior Division entries must be labeled with the variety name by the exhibitor. Sticky notes would be suitable. Success at growing more difficult produce will be considered in overall judging.

SENIOR SMALL (Grades 6-12)

CONTAINER GARDENS:

1. INTERMEDIATE: Enter 4 carrots and 1 vase of Zinnias

2. SENIOR: Enter a bunch of lettuce and 1 vase of Nasturtiums
